Synthesis of Gain-Scheduled Controller for a Class of LPV Systems

This paper presents a systematic framework of gainscheduled controller synthesis for a class of LPV systems. The main contribution of this paper comes from two aspects. First, a novel class of controller structure is introduced specifically for the class of LPV systems considered. The advantage offered by this class of controller structure is that the controller synthesis can be more easily formulated as an LMI problem. Second, performance-oriented controller synthesis is also formulated as an LMI problem in a similar way. Therefore, the synthesis framework in this paper can handle both the quadratically stabilizing controller design and performance-oriented controller design. It is also noted that the approach in this paper can also be applied to hybrid or switching systems.
